3D Modeling Gallery
Joseph C., a talented screen writer, 3D modeler, and humorous storyteller, has worked to combine his storytelling skills with his digital modeling skills. In the 2 examples below, you can see how simple shapes and animation can help convey a story.
Carlo S., a 3D Modeling student from 2011-2013 focused primarily on developing environments. In each of the 3 examples below, you'll see how Carlo tries to create a mood with color, values, and atmospheric perspective.
Jessica L., a 3D Modeling student from 2011-14 has focused much of her time working with Character Development and designing environments. As an Advanced Placement Drawing and Design student, Jessica fine tuned her digital illustration and painting skills. In her last year at Northgate, she collaborated on 2 large projects with Joe C. In the examples belong, you can see the development of her characters from early sketches to completed works of art.
Introduction to 3D Modeling Student Work 2012-13
During the introduction year of 3D Modeling we focus on building the basic in modeling and animation. Moving from simple shapes to more complex modeling, the student work both independently and with design/engineering teams. For 2 years now, we have collaborated with the Introduction to Engineering Design course to build a toy. My students develop the toy concept, design the toy in Cinema 4D, create orthographic drawing in Illustrator, create packaging, and animate a model. The engineering students build the toy in AutoDesk so the toy can be printed on the 3D printer and assembled. This authentic collaboration is example of the kinds of collaborative learning in the Visual Arts Department.
